About Us
The Stingray season runs from the beginning of May to the
middle of August. The Club is open to children aged 5 to 18,
who have completed Red Cross Aquaquest 4 (7years and older)
or Superfrogs (6 years and Younger) and are able to swim 15
meters in deep water unassisted.
The Stingrays offer two programs - Competitive and Development:
Competitive Program:
In the competitive program, emphasis is placed on improving
stroke technique and competitive times. Swimmers compete in
various swim meets around the Lower Mainland throughout the
summer, and are encouraged to set and achieve personal goals.
Fitness, good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle are encouraged.
Swimmers in the competitive program attend various local,
regional and provincial swim meets throughout the summer.
At meets, swimmers compete in separate divisions which are
determined by age:
Division 1
8 and under
Division 2 9 to 10 1/2
Division 3 10 1/2 to 12
Division 4 12 to 13 1/2
Division 5 13 1/2 to 15
Division 6 15 to 16
Division 7 17 to 19
Division 8 20 and over
At most swim meets, separate events for swimmers 6 years and
under are also offered.

Meets section of this site.
Development Program:
In the development program, swimmers are instructed in the
four basis swimming strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke
and butterfly. Swimmers are encouraged to develop their skills
in a positive, caring environment. Fun, good sportsmanship
and safety are stressed.
Development swimmers are encouraged to attend a number of
development meets held during summer. This allows them to
get a feel for competitive swimming, without pressure or disqualifications.
These meets are generally held on weekday afternoons and are
open only to new swimmers or returning swimmers with high "B" times.
Development swimmers will be invited to the more competitive
weekend meets when the coach, swimmer and parents feel they
are ready to participate.
